So something a little bit different this morning, a Sunday style piece, take a read as I review a few pieces from the latest collection ELLESPORT collection, Fortitude.
I often get asked how I manage to fit everything in. How do I make to get to the gym before work? Why don't I just snooze the alarm? Do I find it easy to get up at 5:30am? The answer to a lot of these questions comes down to planning. My big tip for fitting in a workout in a busy schedule is to do it first thing. If you workout in a morning before work/uni/the kids get up then there is less chance you're going miss your workout. By waking up and working out it means it is less likely for an excuse to creep in or for me to feel like I don't want to train. And how do I make it to a very morning gym session? I lay my kit out the night before. It might sound like a really easy thing, or something that wouldn't make any difference but when you wake up and your kit is right there ready to go it makes life so much easier.
Do you know what helps even more? New kit! So, imagine my delight when I got an incredible parcel a few weeks ago from ELLESPORT containing a few items from their new Fortitude collection along with a challenge to wear it as I revisited an old hobby. As soon as I put it on I wanted to go and workout, and isn't that the absolute key to a piece of workout wear? The fit of the pieces is such that I feel confident when I put it on, another must-have for me when choosing gym kit. When I go to the gym I want to look good - no-one wants to feel frumpy or get distracted pulling their leggings up - but looking good is not my main focus. I want to get to the gym and get my workout done and get on with my day. I don't ever do my hair and make-up before I go. What I need therefore, is kit which I can throw on and which I know will help me to feel good and confident when I'm working out but not be so over engineered and ridiculous that I feel self-conscious wearing it. For me, the Fortitude collection ticks all the boxes, with it's little pops of marble print it's stylish but not too "look at me" and some of the pieces include the cutest pink colour which reminds me of ballet I did when I was little. I instantly decided therefore that in order to take on the ELLE challenge I would re-visit my old dancing hobby by attending one of the latest fitness crazes and try a ballet based barre class.
For a year before university I went to dance school and so love to take dance based classes whenever I can. I know that dancing has had a massively positive impact on the way that I train. Aside from the aesthetic benefits of helping to sculpt long lean muscle it helps with discipline and gives you a high pain threshold! I loved wearing the Fortitude collection to my barre class, it was like wearing an updated little pink ballet leotard and net skirt, did anyone else wear that too? Importantly, the kit performs. I really struggle to find bras that fit securely with no bounce. In fact, I often wear two workout bras/crop-tops. I was surprised how great the fit was on the crop, I felt secure with just the one top, plus I absolutely love the colour! The leggings are great too and double up for working out and as flexible active wear. They're soft and fit well and have a little zip pocket, perfect for popping in little important items like keys, your iPod or your gym fob. The leggings and hoodie are brilliant not just for the gym but for dashing about to the shops, grabbing a coffee and for walking the dog too!
I only tried out a small sample of the collection so make sure you check out the whole collection on the ELLESPORT website here.
This post was in collaboration with ELLESPORT. I was so excited and nervous when they asked me to test their new collection but so pleased that I said yes. The pieces look and feel great and I love wearing them. Just so you know, the content of this post is my own work, contains my own views and has not been pre-read or edited. Let me know if you've tried any of the pieces, I'd love to hear what you think. Until then, happy Sunday.
