Merrell have joined forces with the free fitness provider, Our Parks, to encourage Londoners to get active in Nature's Gym (outside to you and me). I was luckily enough to be invited to the launch event at the start of this month to take part in a HIIT X Yoga workout and of course test out their latest shoes, the Bare Access Flex and I have to say I was pretty impressed with both of them.
Our Parks run free workouts in parks across London. Yep you read that right, free workouts. No subscriptions or stuffy gyms just free fitness outdoors. You can find your nearest class here.
I was a little apprehensive about the class given that I am definitely not a yogi but it was really accessible. We worked through a series of moves some of which were higher intensity, like jumping jacks/star jumps and some much lower intensity like stretching out in the warrier pose. We were shown 8 moves and then popped them altogether in a mini circuit to complete about 3 circuits over the session. There were modifications up and down so if you didnt want to jump around in the heat you didn't have to or if you're a super yogi and fancied making things a little bit tougher you could stand on your head! The class was so relaxed and it made such a difference training outside.
The new Merrell shoes - the Bare Access Flex - are fab too. They're light and comfortable and provide the perfect support for light workouts and outdoor workouts. They aren't super springy and supportive so they aren't a long distance running shoe but they're really smart so in addition to wearing them to workout I've also been wearing them day to day and I've had loads of compliments. They're perfect for people who don't like a bulky clunky trainer and for people who like something which is more fitted to the foot. They're definitely a really welcome addition to my trainer collection.
I really hope you manage to try a workout with Our Parks. I've already heard from a few people who have tried them since seeing my posts on social media so be sure to let me know if you do try it - take a look at the Our Parks website to find the free class closest to you.
