Let's face it, the world has gone a little bit mad. If you climb into the bubble that is social media and especially the fitness world it is a bit of a weird place and at times I'm not sure it's a place I really want to be.
If you've been reading this blog for a while you will know that it is was an extension of my Instagram account @lucy_fitness I had so much to say and share and not enough space that I decided to put it all in one place. I did not set this up to get Insta-Famous or receive free stuff. A lot of the time I have no idea why people follow me. My sister, Sam, says it's because I'm normal. She means it in a nice way. I'm a normal girl with a full-time job working as a lawyer. I get up early to walk my dog. I go on adventures. I push myself and do challenges which lots of people only dream about, okay maybe I'm not everyone's definition of normal but I guess I'm relatable. I don't spend my days "creating content" or living off someone else's money. I work hard and I face the same challenges as everyone else, I just share them online.
It is the highlight of my day when someone sends me a message saying that I've inspired them to try something new, to get back into running, to get a dog or to eat healthily. That is what I aim to do, to inspire people. I do not want to be an "influencer". I don't want to be grouped with the people that have made blogging and social media their career. Why? Because for me it isn't real. I've been invited to the blogger events and let's put it this way, not all of the people are the same in real life as they appear online. Ironically, one thing missing is their social skills. Everyone is intent on getting the perfect shot and it ends up with everyone being in a bit of an over-engineered situation.
What I'm trying to explain is that, things aren't always as they seem online and also that although I am so incredibly grateful for every opportunity I get, please know that my posts come from a place of inspiration. I want people to read my posts on here and on social and get inspired. Go out and climb a mountain, go for a run, get up earlier, try something new but do it because you want to not because you've been influenced by someone else.
